Welcome to New York State Automatic
Vending Association's web site. We are a trade association
made up of vending companies, product and equipment suppliers and
manufacturers, to promote the vending industry. While doing
this we also keep close watch on Albany for legislation aimed at the
vending industry.
NYSAVA is a state organization chartered by
the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA).
NAMA's services include government relations (state, local and
federal), education, legal counseling, newsletters, and national
trade shows. In 1997 NYSAVA enacted legislation lifting the
state and local sales tax from vended hot drink sales, and the
one-third of snack sales previously taxed. In 2000, we enacted
more far reaching tax relief legislation that will exempt all vended
sales, including candy and carbonated drinks, at $.75 or less.
In short, NO state chapter in NAMA's network of 31 state councils
has been more effective in representing the vending industry than
the New York Automatic Vending Association. We also host an
annual golf outing each fall at some of New York's most beautiful
courses, and three general membership meetings held each year,
throughout the state, to help promote our industry identity, pride,
and goodwill.
NOTICE!
Take Action Now on Calorie Disclosure!
The United States Senate is debating healthcare reform legislation
which includes language to require calorie disclosure for the
vending industry.
The proposed federal language requires that any business which
owns or operates 20 or more vending machines disclose the caloric
content of all vended food and beverage products.
Now is the time to contact your U.S. Senator to ask that technical
amendments be made to this legislation! We estimate that this new
federal requirement will cost the industry more than $56 million
in the first year alone. This will cost the industry jobs. NAMA
urges the U.S. Senate to:
·
provide flexibility in how such disclosure is displayed,
·
ensure sufficient time to comply with any disclosure and also,
·
allow legal protection for minor and inadvertent mistakes in
labeling.
Please use the Take Action link
at the
www.NAMAVoice.com web site now
to send an email to your U.S. Senator today!
If this vending calorie disclosure
language passes in the current form, it will harm our
industry, cost jobs, and could put more Americans out of work.
Will you help us by taking action right NOW? Please email your
U.S. Senators using the above
link.
Your
email to your U.S. Senators could make the difference! Thank you
in advance for taking the time to help change this new federal
requirement.
